The Nakamata family has been making shochu for over 110 years.
Shigesuke Nakamata, the founder of the company, began making shochu in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture in 1897. More than 100 years later, the spirit of shochu brewing has not changed. To experience it firsthand, we visit the brewery every fall to experience the entire production process, from the processing of the sweet potatoes. This is the taste of the shochu that we are also involved in making.
