NAKAMATAKI

What is Nodoguro called in English?

Hello.
I am in charge of PR for Zagat Co., Ltd.

Two weeks have passed since the new year started.Maybe it's time to meet new people and get used to the changes in the living environment, and start holding welcome parties.

The Nakamata Group is the perfect place for such exchanges.

We have prepared many dishes that are very popular not only with Japanese customers but also with customers from overseas.

It can be used for a variety of occasions, such as receptions, meals, and banquets.

Izakaya Nakamata Group, which is directly managed by Nakamata Sake Brewery, specializes in extra-large Nodoguro, carefully selected by a connoisseur.

Of course, the freshness of the blackthroat seaperch, which is more than double the usual size, is more than 500g, and is thick and full of flavor!

Whole-grilled chicken that allows you to fully enjoy the elegant fat without losing its umami is a luxurious gem that cannot be tasted anywhere else.

This time, I would like to introduce how to call such a prized blackthroat seaperch in English.

In order to introduce how it is called in English, it is essential to first introduce a fish called "Nodoguro".

Nodoguro, which is also a specialty of the Nakamata Group, is commonly called "nodoguro" throughout the country, and it has spread.

Not really the official name. The official name is "Akamutsu"It's a fish called.

Akamutsu means "red" colored "mutsu" (greasy) fish.

In addition to Akamutsu, fish with the name "Mutsu" such as Mutsu and Kurotsu are mostly oily fish.

Although the official name is "Akamutsu", it is often called in Tokyo, Chiba, etc.

In ports all over the country, it is sometimes called by local names other than Akamutsu and Nodoguro.

It is said that in some areas, nodoguro is called ``goldfish'' for its bright red appearance, and ``kinme'' for its golden eyes.

However, in recent years, such akamutsu has been featured in the media and has become more well-known, so many people generally know it as "nodoguro".

Now that I have introduced the official name of Nodoguro, I would like to introduce what the main subject, Nodoguro, is called in English!

In fact, just like in Japanese, "Nodoguro" and "Akamutsu" refer to the same fish in English, but they are called differently.

For Nodoguro・・・Blackthroat seaperch

In the case of Akamutsu: Rosy seabass

It is called like this,

"Blackthroat seaperch" literally translates to sea bass with a black throat.

"Rosy seabass" is a red sea bass

Both of them refer to sea bass because the blackthroat seaperch is a fish belonging to the family Fireflyidae, perciformes.

It's interesting that both Japanese and English refer to the same fish, even though there are different ways to call them.

The Nakamata Group offers exquisite sea bream dishes that are perfect for entertaining and dining with guests from overseas.

Only specially selected blackthroat seaperch is used for cooking.

The Nakamata group recommends grilling the blackthroat seaperch, which is called a high-class fish, in order to enjoy it deliciously.

Using the finest Kishu Binchotan charcoal, the Sugatayaki is finished without sparing time and effort.

The fat that overflows when you put your chopsticks into it, the meat that melts when you put it in your mouth, and the crispy, fragrant skin that is slowly grilled.

Of course, in addition to grilling, the Nakamata Group also offers extremely fresh sashimi, simmered seaweed to bring out the deliciousness of blackthroat seaperch,

We offer excellent dishes prepared with a variety of cooking methods, such as shabu-shabu where you can enjoy the original taste.

This time, we introduced what the Nakamata Group's specialty, "Nodoguro," is called in English.
